elliptipar manufactures the finest asymmetric luminaire, featuring a unique extruded aluminum reflector that projects light uniformly across a plane from one edge. Asymmetric lighting illuminates the wall and ceiling from more accessible vantage points by positioning the luminaires at the edge of the plane, removing obstructions and focusing the attention on the surface rather than the luminaire. With close setbacks, wide spacing, tight beam control and compact size, elliptipar luminaires are also ideal for lighting outdoor spaces.
Indirect Illumination
Asymmetric lighting provides indirect illumination to walls and ceilings. Lighting a light-colored, matte, reflective wall transforms it from a point source into an area source that redirects diffuse light to the adjacent space. Likewise, indirectly lighting the ceiling converts a point source (the lamp) into an area source (the luminous ceiling) which delivers comfortable, diffuse illumination for the entire space.
Visual Comfort
When lighting a wall and providing surround brightness, visual comfort is improved by reducing contrast between vertical and task surfaces. Additionally, when the ceiling is lit, glare and veiling reflections are virtually eliminated and the soft and shadow-free light reflected from a luminous ceiling enhances productivity in task-oriented spaces.
Enhancement
Asymmetrically lit walls enliven artwork, signage, displays and merchandise, as well as architectural details such as the material, color and texture of the space. Furthermore,
elliptipar’s asymmetric uplighting enhances the grandeur of classical spaces and also accentuates architectural details.
Direct Movement and Safety
Traffic patterns are influenced by selectively lighting interior walls and outdoor pathways, attracting people to their destination. Asymmetric lighting outdoors also provides controlled coverage of parking areas and walkways from poles at the perimeter or from the side of an adjacent building with minimum spill.
